I teach all kinds of classes —

studio lessons, temple yoga, park yoga,

online lessons —

and across a wide range of ages, from kids' yoga to senior yoga

Meeting yoga made me feel

as though I had fallen in love

with my own life once again

In my teens, living an irregular life,

I had come to feel a chronic tiredness in body and mind

In a stressful life

neither drive nor delight can be fully felt —

I was carrying a great deal of discontent I couldn't name

It began with yoga,

met quite by chance

But in a yoga class,

a passing word from my teacher

soaked all the way through me

and, as if pushed on by intuition,

I set out on the path of a yoga teacher

To savour the unremarkable day with care, and to give thanks

I wanted to become like the teacher who turned

the scenery I had always seen into a world that shines

Step by patient step,

I keep up my practice each day

so that I may become a teacher who can hand kindness

to the student in front of me

Facing your own breath and body

is only a small thing gathered day by day, and yet

for the students who practise with me,

yoga becomes part of everyday life,

and to see them living their days vividly

is my greatest joy

The body, the heart, our relationships.

Precisely because this is an age where each of us so easily carries some worry

I hope that one more person, and one more,

meets yoga and comes to spend their days

with a lighter heart
