Center of Gravity refers to the central point of the body's weight in Yoga. By being aware of and controlling this center, pose stability, balance, and movement efficiency are enhanced.
This is the most crucial physical concept for maintaining body balance. Proper management of the center of gravity impacts not only asana mastery but also the quality of daily posture and movement. It is also linked to inner balance and mind-body stability.
Particularly emphasized in balancing poses (e.g., Tree Pose, Warrior III). Used in all asanas—standing, seated, and inversions—with cues like "where is your center of gravity?" or "feel your center of gravity." Instructors guide students to keep their center of gravity low or gathered at the core.
Convey that "the center of gravity is not a fixed point but a constantly shifting sensation," encouraging students to perceive its subtle changes. Explain that awareness of the center of gravity helps release unnecessary tension and leads to more efficient movement.
