Prana Mudra (Life Force Gesture)
Prāṇa Mudrā
प्राण मुद्रा
It is a hand gesture where the tips of the thumb, ring finger, and little finger touch, with the index and middle fingers extended.
Prāṇa Mudrā is comprised of "Prāṇa" (life force energy) and "Mudrā" (seal). It is a hand gesture where the tips of the thumb, ring finger, and little finger touch, with the index and middle fingers extended. It aims to activate life force energy (Prana) and enhance vitality.
The ring finger symbolizes the earth element, the little finger the water element, and the thumb the fire element. Their union is believed to enhance vitality and immunity. It is said to aid fatigue recovery, improve eyesight, and strengthen the nervous system.
Formed during meditation and Pranayama, with palms facing up on the knees. Used when feeling low on energy or wishing to boost vitality. Instructors explain the energetic benefits of this Mudra during guidance.
Encourage students to "focus awareness on the fingertips and feel the sensation of energy filling up." Recommend daily practice for students seeking fatigue recovery or immune system enhancement.
